Glowstone
Glowstone is a light-emitting block that provides a bright and natural light source. It emits a light level of 15, making it one of the brightest blocks in Minecraft. It is commonly used in Redstone contraptions, underwater lighting, and decorative builds.
Glowstone generates naturally in the Nether, forming in clusters on the ceilings of Nether caves. It can be mined using any tool, but Silk Touch is required to collect it as a full block. Without Silk Touch, it drops Glowstone Dust, which can be crafted back into Glowstone using 4 Glowstone Dust in a 2×2 crafting grid.
Glowstone is commonly used as a light source in houses, pathways, underwater builds, and farms. It is also a key ingredient in brewing, as it enhances the potency of potions when used in a Brewing Stand. Additionally, it is used in crafting Respawn Anchors and Redstone Lamps. Unlike Torches and Lanterns, Glowstone can be placed underwater without breaking, making it a preferred light source for aquatic builds. It does not require fuel or Redstone power, making it an efficient and permanent lighting option.
